Conicidentally thinking of taking the family there next October.

anybody holidayed there? Can you reccomend a family friendly hotel?

If Scotland can qualify, its there last game of the campaign, it could be a massive Scotland support due to size of stadium and you would think limited "home" support.

Probably quite cold that time of year. Never been though. Are you staying in Torshavn ?

There are loads of hotels on the Algarve and just over the border on coast of Huelva province in Spain (Faro is near the border) so can`t see accommodation being a problem though 12th October is a national holiday in Spain so if weather is good (that time of year is when summer often ends with sudden storms in southern Iberian peninsula) a lot of folk from Huelva and Seville may think about a weekend on Algarve (They`ll book late cause of weather).  As for "home" support I`d imagine a couple of hundred . Was in Gibraltar recently and local paper had manager saying 3rd place and playoffs was target. They have a model of new stadium on display but don`t think building has even started,  a pity since our visit would have been perfect opening ceremony.

The Algarve doesn't usually go below 16 degrees even in winter months.

I usually go over May/June time, round about mid to high 20's.

A few of us went to albufiera after the Spain game which was in October, bloody roasting, close to faro airport and plenty of boozers on the strip and plenty around the main square which is a bit quieter for families

I'm going to Praia  de Rocha in September, but there a couple of time before.  How realistic would it be to holiday there and travel to Faro of the game?

I'd imagine you'd be able to get a local bus on the day of the game. After the match might be a bit more difficult depending on the time but if there are a couple of you probably wouldnt be too bad in a taxi?
