Skybet 7/2.

Also 40/1 for zero points.

Stop stop talking about who's to blame when all that counts is how to change.

Will also be having a shot of a top goalscorer accy although at first glance it does look like the bookies have clamped right down on the odds compared to 2012.

Going to join 888.com and nominate Argentina. The free bets should see me through the tournament....

England to score 4 goals or less at 6/5 looks good.

Flure - Skybet are 7/2 for them not to win a game.

I'd forgotten about that, cheers.  Think I'll go for Argentina too.  Games against Iran and Nigeria alone should see a few goals banged in.

Yeah the only 'catch' about it is that its only one bet you get i.e 3 goals means a £15 free bet instead of 3x£5. Although some people might see that as a good thing.

Another 'decent' bet i've just seen is Muller to be top Bayern Munich goalscorer @ 3/1 you'd fancy him to outgun Manduzic and Robben

yaya toure top scorer, 150-1, obv unlikely but i think thats generous, hes capable of 3 in a game, hits pens and free kicks as well

other than that im backing south korea, nigeria and australia to loose by more than one every game (single bets, roughly evens each game), as, imho, they are pish

I don't think Brazil will win it, too much pressure on them.

Uruguay at 28-1 on Betfair interests me, as does half the odds to get to the final.  History in football does tend to repeat itself (1950?), they have a tidy but aging team, and they seemed to know how to play tournaments well these days.

I can't understand why we let someone else rule our land.

Been thinking about a wee gut feeling about the under/over 2.5 markets. Seem to remember having some joy on this around 2009/10 on the club seasons, so thought I would continue on the World Cup 2010, but met with much disappointment IIRC. Similar at the Euros 2012.

A wee google says that in the Group games at the last World Cup, there were 17 over and 31 under. Of the 17 overs, 9 involved 'minnows'.

In the first games played by each team, only 2 out of 16 were over 2.5 (Brazil 2-1 v N.Korea, and Germany 4-0 v Australia), which leads me to thinking that a bit of a perm bet on under 2.5's in the first group games, and on all group games might be in order, avoiding games involving 'minnows' (and they didn't always lose).

Or there will be an out and out phuking carnival goal frenzy........

Interesting stat that on the -2.5 on the opening games.  I always like to look at more than one tournament though as I feel it gives you better averages and more of an idea of the probability.  If you look at the 3 tournaments prior to 2010 the number of opening games with +2.5 goals is as follows:

2006 - 8

2002 - 8

1998 - 7

Looking at that it would suggest that the low number last year was a bit of an anomaly is it's more or less 50/50 in the 3 tournaments before.

Possibly a reflection of the 'wee' teams getting more tactically aware and well-conditioned ?
