Amidst the typical woe of Scotland's football defeat, the new rugby season started last night with Glasgow continuing where they left off last season with a 22-15 home win over the Cardiff Blues. Wins also for Leinster and NG Dragons.

Edinburgh play tonight in a daunting trip away to Munster which is live on BBC Alba.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose...

This year's seasons continues where last season left off with Edinburgh getting beaten.

Maybe. But if last year's Edinburgh side was trailing 22-6 away to Munster at half time they would have lost something like 45-9.

Off to Murrayfield tonight. For some reason I'm optimistic. Suppose it can't be any worse than last season.

Me too. I'm not. If you see what I mean. Hopefully you're right.

Good wins for both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

I was! Plenty to work on, but a win is a win. Our set piece looks pretty solid.

You were, and it was a pleasure to watch a Scottish side win a game at the death rather than let in a late score to lose. Solomon is clearly going to base his game around a big pack (with Cox in the back-row, Edinburgh had a lot of big men on the park) and a return to winning ways was very welcome after last season. The back-line was far from impressive, the number of basic mistakes was infuriating, but it is early days I suppose. Glasgow's result was impressive too, it's rare enough that both win in the same weekend, so a good start to a new campaign.

Pack looks good, set piece is pretty solid. Best thing for me is the massive increase in physicality in the tackle.

Superb stuff from Glasgow tonight...great performance and result.

Hopefully this could be their year in the Rabo...

Please don't argue back about this as I am 100% correct.

Peter Wright, Tom English and Dougie Vipond commentating on Radio Scotland. Possibly the worst line up in the history of broadcasting.

Thankfully i got to a tv for the second half.

another week another defeat for edinburgh

if the englishers and the french get their way (which they are) edinburgh will disappear from the rugby stratosphere

bring back the borders!
