Tattiescone , I take it you are flying Turkish Airlines. If your stopover is 10hrs or more out and back, the Airline puts you up in a Hotel for free. Istanbul is the noisiest Airport I have been in. The Hotels are first class too.

Yeah , thought about stopping for the night , decided we'll just push on to Tbilisi even though its a 320 am arrival . Less than 2 hours at Ataturk . Short stop over there on the way back too

We done overnight in Istanbul on the way back from Macedonia spent the night in the Primeclass lounge free food, drink etc . I would definitely do that again.

we took advantage of the free digs from Turkish airlines & got put up in a Mariot & blagged single rooms .
£19 for 4 lagers in the hotel however prompted us to get a taxi which took us 10 minutes down the road, much cheapness

True , but time is often as important as the cost , a day stopover is one day less in Tbilisi . Rather see Istanbul when we get Turkey some time

Wouldn't bother booking that far ahead with this one, not enough people will travel to push prices up too much.
I'm going via the Far East, not decided where yet though. Probably Thailand.

Looks like the first and second days after the flights become available the prices are higher then on day three drop by 20%.
