  1. Thanks. That makes (more) sense. It implies the SNP machine is still working, not broken chaotically, albeit working towards its own ends? Even so, if you believe independence is best served by a strong electoral performance by the SNP in the next election(s), then presumably the 'coup' (or whatever it is) could be seen as a good thing. If you think independence is best served by the SNP being first destroyed then replaced, then presumably not such a good thing. I guess my view is that I find it harder to believe option 2 would work as readily as its supporters seem to think. I can see the attraction of being a bit more bold or bolshie and not 'begging for a section 30' and so on, but I don't see what the actual plan would be to gain independence in the face of an intransigent British state... The only half-credible option seems to be using an election majority as a de facto referendum, but it's hard to see how that would work by destroying the main pro indy party. It would seem the SNP should be the party to attempt it, but if so it needs to be in fine electoral fettle. And even then it would need the British state to agree to abide by the result.
  2. Thanks. So how was he stitched up? Sounds as if he was pushed?
  3. Any chance (anyone) of a one sentence summary of 'how Humza was stitched up'? (I had a click, it's 47 minutes and the entire first minute is an Alex Salmond intro...)
  4. Can anyone remind us, what is the strategy of each pro indy party to gain independence? As far as I know the SNP's is something like 'build support' and 'send a signal' What is Alba's plan? Green? ISP?
  5. I saw some BBC analysis asking if the council gains for Labour and the mood of the country (sic) meant they'd do well in Scotland. But no mention of the fact that Labour had not done so well in some places with votes going to Greens and independents and maybe left leaning places where people angry at their stance on Gaza. We shall see. (As I type, I see LibDems have overtaken Tories in terms of number of council seats...) Also if I'm been hearing right, this pattern of results would mean Labour could win majority in Westminster on basis of English results alone. The road to no.10 does not necesarily run through Scotland, as all the Labour Scots never tire of claiming.
  6. I don't know. But I don't remember people being troubled by him in this way.
  7. Ok I see what you mean but you did say "Only the loony fringe would have a problem with Kate Forbes in power." But it's a fact that many people do have a problem with her, among those are those who are defending gay marriage and gay rights. If you say 'only the loony fringe' then that must include them. I only mention it because someone somewhere said something like they didn't understand why someone would have anything against KF. I am just pointing out this is a real reason, felt sincerely by some people, who are not a loony fringe. BTW I'm not otherwise commenting on her suitability. As I say, that's a matter for SNP members.
