  1. As stated done for commercial reasons no loyalty in football these days. 'I don't have to sell my soul he's already in me...' obviously not a Roses fan our Jack. Anyway there is only one Grealish and that's Tony.
  2. Well before my time but gotta be Slim Jim he took the p*ss in Wembley - genius. One going up of Billy McNeill at Celtic Park I do believe.
  3. As a former club of Patricks FC Barcelona have donated a signed first team shirt just signed last week - bids welcome Full details here - http://www.wednesdayite.com/index.php/news/wednesdayite-news/item/2243-barcleona-pocfund
  4. At ease gentlemen hope you are all very well and looking forward to your trip to Dublin in the Summer. I'm just writing about a project I'm working on the Patrick O'Connell Memorial Fund. Mr. O'Connell was an Irish footballer who was the first Irishman to play for and captain Manchester United and won La Liga in 1935 with Real Betis their only title success with a ground capacity of 1,000 people. Patrick went on to manage FC Barcelona and was the manager at the club during the Spanish Civil War - he took the club on a tour to Mexico, the money raised from this tour was wired to an account in Paris and ultimately kept the club a float. There is a bust in Camp Nou of Patrick. Patrick played for Sheffield Wednesday and also Dumbarton in Scotland during his playing days. Sadly Mr. O'Connell is buried in an unmarked grave in Kensal Green in London to this day, he died destitute in London in 1959 aged 71. The Patrick O'Connell Memorial Fund is a small group of football fans from Ireland,England,Scotland and Spain who came together to raise funds to build a memorial befitting Mr. O'Connell's football achievements at the cemetery in London. With the support of Sheffield Wednesday FC and Wednesdayite we have organised a fundraising speakers event at Hillsborough on Friday Feb 27th. As part of the event we are auctioning some of the donated shirts from legends of world football. One of the shirts that maybe of interest to the people on here is a donated 1967 shirt signed by the three goalscorers v England(then world champs) @ Wembley 1967 - McCalliog,Law & Lennox. Email auctions@pocfund.com to place bids for signed shirts / memorabilia items. Please state "Hillsborough" along with chosen item(s) in subject of email. Highest bids will be updated every four hours from midday to midnight. Current reserves are €75(£50) for signed shirts and €50(£35) for Samuel Eto'o signed CL Anniversary book 2006 Final Arsenal v FC Barcelona. Details here: http://www.pocfund.c...-sheffield.html Thanks for your time.
  5. We need to bounce back and beat the Poles in Dublin. If so all the main players will be on 10 points come next June as Scotland will spank Gibraltar and the Germans will beat Georgia in March. Next June for the return leg could be the biggest game in Dublin for years.
  6. Gentlemen at ease - in the words of Paul Wellar 'Going Underground' for the next few days prior to the trip. Go easy on wee Aidan & James Friday night. Looking forward to a great occasion and fantastic atmosphere - may the best team win.
  7. I always say Landowne Rd. not into this stadium sponsoring nonsense.
  8. The Scotia is a smashing little boozer in the city centre - Glasgow's oldest pub as well.
  9. Sad really Dublin airport will lose custom because of airline greed.
  10. As welcome as the flowers of May look forward to yee coming over.
  11. I notice your all flying to Belfast are the flights to Dublin expensive or is it just the currency exchange issue?
  12. Just to add Republic of Ireland Act 1948 did not change the name of the state as prescribed in the Constitution the name of this State is "Ireland" and is so prescribed by Article 4 of the Constitution. Anyway Gordon Strachan names his squad tomorrow any surprises ahead?
