  1. I have tried quite a few that I would consider incredibly expensive (probably £1,000 to £2,000 per bottle range) and they were incredible, smooth and complex, but definitely NOT worth the money. Like a lot of expensive things, it is a law of diminishing returns and the seller can only charge that price because it is rare and somebody is willing to pay it - footballers are a good example, Neymar is not 200 times as good as a player valued at one million pounds. But I think if you can pay £50 for a bottle instead of £20 or £30 then that would probaly be worthwhile. The crazy thing is that on a £20 bottle about £15 goes on tax so you are only paying £5 for your whisky, the bottle, labeling, shipping, the shops costs and profit and everything else.
  2. That is the impression I have always had of him. Creepy auld b@stard.
  3. Fairly well documented that the guy was a serial shagger including cheating on various wives and chasing much younger women. Of course, that is a million miles from Operation Yewtree.
  4. Well, if you look at the fastest 100m guys Bolt is I think 0.26 quicker than the next fastest performance by a non-suspect athlete (Donovan Bailley, not aware that he is suspicious). That is huge. Like the equivalent of someone running 1.59.xx in the marathon. Also, he comes from, and trains in, a country that has been notoriously lax at out of competition testing. He also has a slightly susepct progression curve. And finally (without wanting to turn this into more of a conspiracy theory than it already is) he is a massive draw for the IAAF $$$$ so it really is possible that he is protected. Given that, I think it is crazy to boo one guy that has been caught doping and cheer another as a superhero when he is almost certainly (or at least was, maybe not anymore) doping. But people cheered Lance Armstrong right up to the end.
  5. Why does he dope or why would only an idiot boo Gatlin and cheer Bolt?
  6. Anyone that boos Gatlin and cheers Bolt is a idiot. Bolt is the Lance Armstrong of athletics.
  7. Rowing and canoeing are two very different things. Rowing, like the posh Oxbridge boys do, is hell on water. Literally one of the toughest things I have ever tried. Canoeing or kayaking is much more fun. Loads of places to hire them. Loch Tay and Loch Lomond both come to mind. Sea kayaking is supposed to be even more fun.
  8. So we all know that everyone at tour is on it, of course, and it is still fun to watch. But Aru and Astana turn it up to eleven. Apparently. Proper old school doping I reckon. Did he ever get round to suing Greg Henderson? Anyway, I doubt Froome will be too worried about a few seconds, with a TT to come. But lets see what happens on the next mountain stage.

  10. Well, I should say subject to an investigation, if it is found out that safety has been compromised due to cuttting corners and not following the regulations. Then it becomes corporate manslaughter and those responisble can go to jail. There is precedent.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/yourbusiness/8330905/History-of-corporate-manslaughter-five-key-cases.html
  11. This is the stuff of nightmares, but a totally preventable tragedy. Cormers were obviously cut when this building was refurbished. Rather than cutting corners they should have been improving fire safety. For example, an automatic sprinkler system would have been very expensive to retrofit but would have almost certainly saved every single life. People need to go jail for this. And not just scapegoats, but the budget holders at the highest level.
  12. I used to work with a guy from Corby. His parents were Scottish. A bigger arsehole you are never likely to meet. And he was more BNP than SNP.
  13. I remember reading an interesting article about estate agents, I think it was by the Freakonomics guys. In summary, they were saying that the agent wants to sell your house ASAP to get their 1%. 1% of £400,000 is £4,000, 1% of £416,000 is £4,160. So only £160 different but the house might sell two months quicker at the lower price. And in fact the individual you are dealing with might be on say 10% of that 1% so they are pocketing either £400 or £416. For you the sacrifice is £16,000. You might be willing to take that trade if you want a very quick sale but the point is that an estate agent is not always entirely on your side.
