Chesney Hawkes TA's Achievements

  1. Agreed on Morrison. The most consistent central midfielder amongst the many who have played there the past few years. And often in a deeper role than is his best position. Ridiculous when he gets singled out for criticism.
  2. I liked watching Spain but they only played in six or seven games in each of those three tournaments. The majority of games in major championships are a poor standard and dull.
  3. Decent international teams like that Spain one are generally very good because they have a significant amount of players from one club, so play like that club. That is very much the exception in international football though and hence why that Spain team sticks out and to a lesser extent the recent Germany team did. Watching defence v attack in countless games in that ludicrously expanded Euros last year was tedious beyond belief.
  4. There's no way international teams are as fluent and as good to watch as the best club teams. International tournaments are so bad because there are so few good teams and the rest just make themselves hard to beat which makes for a poor spectacle. The Champions League group stage is a joke but so are qualifying campaigns for international tournaments. As has been mentioned elsewhere, the Champions League is only worth watching from the quarter-finals, before that goal highlights suffice. International qualifying tournaments may have important games because of what's at stake but the standard of game is terrible.
  5. Unfortunately international football matches (and tournaments) are mostly horrendous to watch.
  6. It was the middle and on their right that Liverpool got run through on Saturday. The young lad Alexander-Arnold was given a rude awakening about football at that level. Remarkably Moreno was their best defender, though the bar was set particularly low. Not seen any team news or speculation about Liverpool's game tonight but Robertson must have a chance of starting. I reckon one of the reasons Moreno played Saturday is Robertson had played two international games whilst Moreno wasn't away.
  7. Palace interested? With De Boer as manager and the way they're trying to play a passing game? Doesn't seem likely for someone who has "shown little improvement re tactical understanding/work without ball".
  8. Moreno makes mistakes defensively but so does Robertson so it may be they swap fairly regularly after each of them has a poor game. But Moreno is much better going forward: more comfortable on the ball, better at picking a pass, takes set-pieces and obviously has a strike on him. They are equally as bad in the air. So I'd reckon Moreno needs to have an absolute shocker before Robertson gets a start. He'll probably get his first game in the League Cup. Now Liverpool has most of its pacey players back in the team I doubt they'll unbalance it by selecting Milner at left-back again.
  9. I doubt you'd pick Robertson to tighten up a defence.
  10. Of course Tierney is a better player than Robertson. Jesus wept. Robertson will be a squad player for Liverpool. Anyone who thinks he's good enough to be a regular starter for a team meant to be challenging for the Premier League and competing in the Champions League is living in cloud cuckoo land. He got dropped and hooked by Hull regularly.
  11. Dead Souls by Joy Division. B-side to Atmosphere. Their best song There are a few people on here that don't half like some of the utter 5h1te that Oasis released. i.e. any of the low-key songs with nostalgic and sentimental lyrics. Half the World Away being a prime example. It's a shame Noel didn't stop after Definitely Maybe. Rock 'n' Roll Star, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Columbia and the like are streets ahead of the rubbish on the latter albums where Noel was thinking when he was trying to write lyrics. Noel hasn't read a lot of books and it shows with all the clichés and trite lyrics in the songs he wrote after the great throwaway songs on Definitely Maybe.
  12. "when I went on a Notts Forest forum" Jesus wept. You need to get Netflix or Amazon Prime. And it's Nottingham Forest. Never Notts.
