Last time I dug this album out, was just before our last ever finals match, a 0-3 loss to Morocco in 98. Its been gathering dust in the loft ever since!

It was a bit of banter, long before we all started to take ourselves too seriously......the tartan army has gone very pc. "Stand up if you particularly don't like England, Stand up if you don't particularly don't like England"

We didn't really hate you...did we? A football man through and through, Jimmy Hill always seemed to take the banter in good spirit. Maybe an end of an era when the England-Scotland rivalry really meant something.

They were obviously misinformed

If you were to stand in the middle of the Turkish home support, festooned in your finest tartan, Scotland score and you break out into the Highland fling....well best of luck!!!!

Had 2 Polish fans standing next to us in the North Stand......As soon as Poland scored after 3 minutes they had their red cowboy hats yanked off their heads by an irate Scottish fan who had appeared from nowhere and disappeared with said hats before they knew what had hit them! I must say that my sympathy for them was somewhat tempered...............if you are going to plant yourself in the middle of the home support, don't dress up like B movie extras, you are asking for trouble...............especially if your team scores!!!!

Was there. Bitter sweet night and surreal! Believe it or not before the match the Welsh only had 1 ball in their prematch warmup!!!! One of their players ballooned it over the bar and into the Scottish crowd behind the goal. The Welsh players were pleading for the ball to be returned and of course didn't get it back. In the end Jock Stein was called upon & he came over to the crowd & with some arm waving and remonstrating managed to get their ball returned.......

Despite the overall gloom, I think it will all come down to us beating Poland in October. If we win we will almost certainly grab 3rd place even if we lose to Germany. Well done Georgia, fully deserved victory. The reality is that we do not have the quality to consistently perform at a level that will take us through a group stage to qualify. Our best team would struggle to win the English Championship..... Its not the managers fault, we just don't have enough good players!!
