In between drinking sesh's a must is a visit to Auschwitz, you can book bus tours from any tourist office in Krakow.

Do a search on this forum, you'll find other previous threads. From what I remember it all sounded good

Great time to visit as the Zloty has fallen to 5.07 against the pound.

I have been travelling to Poland regularly for the last few years and this is the best time to visit in a long time.

I was there a few months back and it was 4.4/4.5.

I would take English pounds with you and change them in the exchanges over there. There are loads in Krakow but have a good look and you should be able to get an exchange rate very close to the official one. Certainly dont buy the currency in Scotland.

It did all change in 2012 but the Black will be back in 2013 along with a new challenger. Good luck to all!

I had Scottish pounds and the exchange booths just will not take them. You don't need to take much cash as there are plenty ATM's that take our cards.Good thing tho is the exchange shops have signs saying BRITISH pounds but they won't take Scottish pounds

Auschwitz - although perhaps not the ideal venue for a stag on tour - service bus is only a few quid return from the main bus station - however, if you also want to take in Auschwitz II Birkenau (you catch a bus outside Auschwitz I) it's an all day job - slightly surreal thing is the small shopping precinct beside the main camp - I had a pizza in a cafe there between visiting the two camps and it didn't seem right sitting there eating it in such a location.

The old Jewish quarter is also worth a visit - part of the Krakow Ghetto wall remains but I couldn't find it - found an interesting museum (free entry) there on the history of the ghetto.

The view from the castle is superb but being a tight arse I didn't actually go into the castle itself.

Plenty of good bars and restaurants - it was about £1.50 for a pint of the local stuff when I was there in 2009 (that was in the bars close to the main square - obviously cheaper away from the tourist areas).

Went to Krakow on the way back from quite a few Scotland games around 2005-07 and loved it but it started getting harder and harder to get in any of the half decent clubs because they wouldn't allow stag parties in and thought we were one due to the kilts. Many of the places have signs with "no stag parties" and some even say "no groups of british"

Haven't been back since but I hear it hasn't changed.
