He's had 19 chances to prove that he can cut it at international level, sadly he's failed to sparkle more times than not. We have GMS, Forrest, Phillips and potentially Driver and Wylde, I think Shaun Maloney should enjoy club football and accept that his Scotland days are over.

but the simple truth is he simply is not international class.
Driver and Wylde,
And what about you, my fair lady? Can i trouble you for a quick Lewinsky?

Aye, that's hysterical, one of them once ripped holes through Germany at under 21 level and the other is now with a Premiership club.
So what, with your scornful laugh you're writing off the chances of these kids making it?
How clever of you. I suspect you were one of the insightful people who once called Ronaldo a "One trick pony".

I hope I'm proved wrong but I'd be surprised if Wylde gets a semi regular game for Bolton never mind a Scotland cap given that he couldn't get in a pish Rangers team and Driver appears to be made of glass.
There must be lights burning brighter, somewhere...

Think he changed the game when he came on against Lithuania ! Certainly set up Stephen McManus' goal. How quickly you all forget his wondergoal free kick v the Faroes...

Shaun Maloney once ripped holes through Germany at U21 level and is in his second spell at a Premiership club.
Forgive me if I don't get too excited about Gregg Wilde and Andrew Driver.
I also think Maloney's international days are long gone.

Driver is hardly a kid now given he'll be 25 this year. The injuries seem to have taken their toll and he doesn't look anything like the player he was 3 years ago. I doubt he'd be in the Hearts team if Templeton wasn't injured.
agreed, he is not the same player and i would certainly have a fit templeton and suso ahead of him

The argument of he's done nothing in 19 matches is lazy. He's started about 1/4 of them and not done much wrong in most of them. He made a good contribution to the Euro 2008 campaign.
Maloney has two major problems when it comes to playing for Scotland. Firstly, he needs a free-role, preferably behind the striker(s). He can play elsewhere but that's where you'll get the best from him. We can't often afford this luxury and are far more likely to go with someone that isn't quite as good technically but will offer more when we don't have the ball. The other problem is we have a number of players that can play the same role(s) as Maloney and one of them is McFadden.
I'd love to see us try and play the 4-2-3-1 formation properly because I think we have the players to do it but I'm not sure we ever would.
GK - Gordon (McGregor, Marshall)
4 - Hutton, Caldwell, Berra, Bardsley (Mulgrew, Hanley, Martin, Whittaker, Wallace)
2 - Fletcher and Brown (Adam, McArthur)
3 - 3 from Forrest, McFadden, Bannan, Maloney, Dorrans, Snodgrass, Phillips
1 - Fletcher or Miller (Goodwillie, CMS)
EASY!

I think you're all reflecting on one one marvellous season in the Championship a little too much.
