In today's Daily Record According to BBC gossip colum that Levein thinking of calling up Brighton Midfielder. It's not on Record web-site so havnt read the story.

SCOTLAND manager Craig Levein could be set to swoop for Brighton midfielder Liam Bridcutt.

The 22-year-old, a team-mate of striker Craig Mackail-Smith in the Championship, is eligible to play for Scotland through his Edinburgh-born grandfather.

Levein said: "He's been brought to our attention. Scout Michael Oliver is doing the research."

Why are people continuing to be surprised by these links? Levein has been pretty up front about the fact that he is looking to unearth as many eligibles as be possibly can.
Most of us disagree with this policy of seemingly overlooking more "100%" Scot's, but he has made his stance on this pretty clear.

i agree, this is just getting silly and boaring. Hope to see Stephen Fletcher ( who is also English by the way) back in the squad soon, he has proven himself to be a top player in one of the best league's in the world. What has this guy done ? All CL is doing is capping as many players of Scottish descendants he can incase they become the next BIG player, but at what cost to the players that are doing the buisness now, i.e. Ross Mcormack at Leeds- who have gone of the boil, but at one point he was banging them in for fun - but he sticks by Goodwillie. How may goals has he scored for Balckburn this season ? If CL gets off to a good start in the next campaign we will stop dissecting his choice of squad, but he is yet to deliver a decent set of results. THE JURY IS OUT.

Was linked with us last year and had a run of a couple of games where he looked alright (but not great and was left at that) didn't he no score winner in FA cup v Newcastle?

Got a feeling we are going to see a few "odd" and "New" names in squad for USA game.

Not sure CL's ambition stretches to recruiting the next BIG thing. Weren't Mackie, CMS, Bardsley, Martin, Morrison, all established and mid 20's when first capped? Scarcely the next BIG player, who should probably be late teens when called up (even Goodwillie, 23 and Rhodes 22 would only just qualify). POI - Faddy and Fletch were 20 and 19 when beating the Dutch nearly 9 years ago.

Apparently he is Brightons player of the year this season.... Brighton have been really disappointing 2nd half of the season, so no reading to much into that.

Can not see what he will offer us that we do not already have, and probably have half a dozen players better than him not already in the squad.
