none of us knew what EBT stood for until recently - maybe we should ask for the best suggestions as to what EBT really means in the context of Scottish Football / TAMB......

how far back can you go ? we had various loans and credit cards between 95-00 before we screwed then nut. can't remember who any of them were with though ? Should I just randomly call banks or is there a better way?
money saving expert has a list of companies that show who your previous loans were with. off top of my head - experia and equifax are two. only costs £2 and was incredibly useful

So...... just about to start the process - i've got a list of all the companies I've had loans and credit cards with.....
how do I know if I've had PPI's with them? I don't have the original paperwork for any of them - do I just write to them anyway, or write 1st of all asking if I have PPI with them?!?

You can send them a cheque for £1 and ask for the original loan agreement. I put this in a letter:
"I recently took out a loan with your company. The loan is ended but I now require you to send me the original loan agreement and terms. I enclose a cheque for £1 to cover any related costs."

Just claim straight away with the assumption you had ppi. Let them work out if you did or didnt, I did it on a couple of mortgage ones from the late 90's, tidy little sum back!

Went into my bank branch, asked for a print out of all the loans etc I've ever had - got two pages of accounts and various mortgages, loans etc. Called the number they gave me in branch, read out the loan agreement numbers and I now sit back and wait for a reply from them - they have eight weeks to respond apparently.
I know on at least two products I was told I couldn't have them unless I took PPI - young, daft, skint, working three jobs at the time..... Knowing my luck it will come to nothing, but it's worth a shot!
Edit to add, while I was on I asked about the late payment monies too - they will investigate that at the same time.
