Wel I did say playing regularly which would preclude both Fletcher & Adam for the past few months. We have a lot of players playing in the EPL (more than for a while as it happens) but most are at teams at the wrong end of the EPL (Wolves, Wigan, Villa, QPR, WBA, Blackburn) while the Belgian guys I referred to are playing for some of the best teams in Europe.I honestly don't care enough about this to take the time to go through the rest of their squad, you can if you like. Belgium lost narrowly to England at Wembley, we just got butt-fvcked by the USA. There is nothing I have said that could reasonably be interpreted as comparing Belgium with Spain or the teams we have had in recent campaigns, indeed I specifically say that (unlike previous campaigns) there is no outstandiong team in the Group this time around. The doom and gloom as you call it comes from recent performances and results, and the fact that even if we do have a decent squad of players (which I don't really accept) we have a poor manager who doesn't seem to know what to do with them and who will be in charge come the start of the qualifiers. If you have seen anything to give grounds for optimism in anything Scotland have done on the field in recent games good for you, but you have been watching different games than I have.

Obviously I have been watching the same games as you pal...........
Have I said we are going to win the world cup no!!
my original point was that we are not going to finish bottom of the group nor no where near it??
As your talking about betting I will take anybodys bet about us finishing last in group!!!

I reckon your the sort of guy that will be on here in THREE months saying they fancy 1.0 scotland against serbia (had a dream blah blah )

And what are you saying? Going on evidence that Belgium have players at big clubs it makes them world beaters. Sorry but they are no further up the evolutionary football chain than we are. We can only judge on previous group form and if you can show me where they have out-performed us (who you paint a miserable picture for) then you will be doing as good job.

Wrong. You can say that we both finished 3rd so therefore we are equal but it's not as simple as that. On paper Belgium have a superior team to us. That doesn't mean they aren't beatable but they and Croatia are correctly favorites to qualify.

What concerns me is if you are judging on previous group form then we are f**ked becuase we don't have any diddy teams, and it was diddy teams we took the fast majority of our points against. On one hand it's good not to have a team like Spain, but on the other we are going to have 10 tough games. Trying to be positive and will be hoping for 6 points from our 2 home games but you have to be realistic

My post about 'watching the same game' was in reply to Lonesome Caledonian not your, I meant to quote the relevant one. I haven't said that you said we would win the World Cup, nor have I offered anyone a bet about us finishing bottom of the Group (I don't think we will).

The final sentence in your post is difficult to decipher and translate into English. I will certainly be hoping that we beat Serbia come September, but with current form under Levein I can't see any particular reason (home advantage aside) at the moment for believing we will do so.

:-)) 'Pray tell'! Feckin' Lord Percy of Percy is posting on the TAMB.

I'm done on this one. I've said what I think - Belgium are an improving team, and likely to finish higher in the Group than we are mainly because we we are poor with a struggling manager. In essence, you are saying nothing. In time honoured fashion I'll bet you £10 to go the Sunshine Appeal that Scotland finish below Belgium in this Group.

I hate to see the Sunshine Appeal missing out, but I hope you're as wrong as a very wrong thing - and I'll put £10 to funds if you're proved wrong!

I'll take that bet, and hopefully it will be me rather than you paying a tenner to the Sunshine Appeal.

Pessimistic Keefter: (the one that moans like f**k in the pub)

Serbia (Home) loss
Macedonia (Home) win
Wales (Away) loss
Belgium (Away) loss
Wales (Home) draw
Serbia (Away) loss
Croatia (Away) loss
Belgium (Home) loss
Macedonia (Away) draw
Croatia (Home) draw

TOTAL 6 points, probably finish 5th and at least 2 managers come and gone...

Optimisitic Keefter (the one that buys the tickets, SSC memberships and turns up here and there come rain or shine)

Serbia (Home) Win
Macedonia (Home) win
Wales (Away) Win
Belgium (Away) loss
Wales (Home) Win
Serbia (Away) loss
Croatia (Away) loss
Belgium (Home) Win
Macedonia (Away) draw
Croatia (Home) Win

TOTAL 19 points, maybe 2nd?

Personally the difference for me between this and past campaigns is the amount of mid-week games at Hampden, it seems to sap the life out of the place (Spain game aside) and gets nowhere near the buzz of a Saturday game... That is of course if you believe that atmosphere and noise make a difference

Love the optimism, but a side that couldn't beat a poor Czech team at home will not suddenly win every home game in a group against good teams.

We will finish bottom, 2nd bottom if we are lucky. We have been pish since Avril became manager. Not once have we ever looked like a half decent team. As for our future opponents not having great performances or results lately, they wont need to be playing anywhere near their best, to beat us.

The problem is that we are more likely to finish bottom than top.

We should be attacking Serbia and Macedonia at Hampden. For pumps sake I'd rather see us go out fighting than with a pathetic system that sees us hoping Miller can pressure them into mistakes.
