Anyone picked out any gems for the competition ?

One bet for me: Robert Lewandowski of Poland to be top scorer. Got a total of £30 each way on him ranging from 50/1 down to 33/1.

He has a fairly easy group and is on terrific form.

I got him as Poland's top scorer at 3/1

Russia each way at 25/1. Their groups relatively easy, they've got a cracking manager, decent players, and geography wise it should suit them.

Surprised none of the 'experts' have even mentioned them.

Arshavin might surprise a few people.

They are a strange team. Out of all the teams there, they had the lowest percentage of shots on target to shots at goal in qualifying and can struggle to score at times.

Drew 0-0 with Lithuania at the start of the week then beat Italy 3-0 last night. Fancy them to get out of the group but think they'll struggle against the top 3 or 4 countries in the knockout stages.

As long as they're hard to beat I'll be happy. I honestly think their group is the easiest, and once you're through to the knock out stages anything could happen. Fingers crossed for them.

Definitely, the group really should be shooty in.

Quite fancy Poland to progress too due to their home advantage

Poland 9/2 to make the semi's. Like you say home advantage should see them through the groups so it's a 9/2 bet if they can make it through the quarter finals.

That's a great bet. Though I'd feel like I'm putting all my eggs in one basket a bit. If Poland don't get out the group I'm pumped having bet Lewandowski.

You may get better than 9/2 once they are through as they will be playing one of Holland/Germany/Portugal regardless of where they finish in the group.

Been looking at previous Euro's to back up my Russia feeling, and make me feel a bit better.

Euro 84 hosted by France, won by France
Euro'88 hosted by Germany, won by Netherlands - next door neighbours
92, hosted by Sweden, won by next door neighbours Denmark
96, hosted by England, won by Germany,
2000, hosted by Belgium/Netherlands, won by neighbours France
04, hosted by Portugal, won by Greece - not neighbours but similar med climate
08, Hosted by Switz, Austria, won by Spain, runner up neighbours Germany.

So on to Ukraine Poland, and near neighbours Russia are ready to pounce.

Problem with my logic is Europe's a relatively small place and a lot of countries border each other. However, I'm happy with my logic on this one. Don't let me down comrades.

Ibrahim Afellay to get the most assists. You heard it here first.
