If you look back (sad that i have these numbers I know) since the Sweden game the number on points floated around c. 7,200 of which one pointers were c. 2,750 to 3,000. This shot up after Brazil and the Nations Cup games against Wales and Ireland to c.13,400 but has come down since to c. 11,000 with one pointers moving up to 7,350 before coming down to 6,500.
If we said that long term trend is closer to that before Brazil and Nations Cup matches at c.7200 then to cover everyone we'd need c. 2,200 tickets from the 15,000 allocated to season tickets (and thats assuming no one on points bought a season ticket) so yes, like you HT I am pretty sure that tickets will be available for everyone who wants one. Indeed I said this in an earlier post ages ago.

So the issue for me is not that i'm worried that those on points will miss out. In all likelihood they'll be fine. My issue is with the SFA/SSC taking that gamble and riding roughshod over one pointers just to sell season tickets.
They have tried to justify this by telling us they needed to confirm take up to the FA. They need to confirm / estimate demand for all our away matches and regularly conduct polls asking how many are going to be travelling. Why is it different this time? They aren't selling the remainder of the tickets allocated for those on points yet so how has what the've done confirmed anything to the FA?
They could have waited until closer to the time knowing they have already had a strong indcation from people around how many we need and then sold/allocated in the normal manner according to points totals at the time. If they have to sell them now just do it on the basis of current points totals and allocate the remainder via ballot or link to season tickets if they must. Or they could have put aside a bit more to cover current points total with a buffer and there would be no bad taste in the mouth for points holders around deviating from standard practice becise we'd know we'd all been looked after.

I get why those on no points (and maybe even those on 1 point who don't intend going to other away games this campaign ) think its a great idea. They have set a nasty precedent here though and whats to say that next time they only put aside sufficient to cover those on higher points. If its set at 4, 5 or 6 is that acceptable? or is it because this time there are (probably) enough tickets for all that makes it ok to deviate away from the tried and tested and gamble with the one pointers?

Just as long as all 1 pointers who want a ticket, get one.

Don't want to end up like Prague when members on 0 pts were handed tickets whilst members on 3 pts were turned away

I think what the sfa are doing is to have a limit to how many people reserve the england tics in the package and look at any members who bought package but already hav ample points or any and then offer all members on points that have not bought package there tickets, then after that if any left they will re offer those on points chance again to take them and if any left should be offered to members on high points if need more tics for themselves or there supporters clubs, hence that what I think on them saying subject to availibilty. We also havant taken in factor what if england don't sell all there tics will they be offered to sfa to sell

To be honest the only downside to this was the fact u can still buy a membership now and buy the package and reserve england tics, sfa should really have closed membership applications when they announced the package and then after all the current members allocated there amount re open the membership applications and offer package but sfa just went for easy option n tried to get more money fast, im sure all members who want one will get it just not been a well handled situation

The fact that they have extended the sale of season tickets means they have not sold as many as expected and nothing to do with high demand.

Does it give a breakdown on how many of those 14,000 are already on the points ladder? I am guessing quite a few, therefore everyone should be guaranteed a ticket if they want one. :ok:

Times like these will make the good times all the sweeter :)

No, and given they are continuing to sell the season tickets, then they are running this close to the wire in being able to guarantee everyone on points a ticket who haven't bought one.

£2+ million in the SFA coffers. Good bt of work and gives them ability to plan their resources.

Maybe as a "business" it's a good bit of work Alan, but as a club it stinks !
