Im getting a helluva heat coming from around the fan area of my laptop. Someone suggested it could have something to do with the battery as it was not charging as much, but with it removed and just plugged in it still just cuts out at random times.

The times vary how long it lasts, sometimes hours, sometimes minutes and i know flip all about this stuff.

Thanks in advance :ok:

I sometimes get a wee hoover onto the fan vents, maybe it,s just clogged up a bit over time?

If your laptop is an HP Pavilion DV6 this is a comon defect with them.

Your CPU (processor) is overheating. May just be the fan at the CPU. Try the hoovering, may just be dust blocking the fan if it's quite old. Fitting a new fan is quite simple if you're clued up. If not then you could probably get it done for around 50 quid.

Usually dust etc in the fans/vents if its getting on a bit, if its fairly new then could be a build up of spyware etc eating up resources? Reinstalling windows might work if the hoover doesnt: copy files to usb drive first.
