Academy Players In England/abroad

08 January 2014 - 12:20 PM

Found this interesting article on the Reading website about 5 of their Academy players who have been called up for recent training camps with us - The Goalie Jonathan Henly (Under 21's) and then 4 younger lads who I haven't actually heard of.

Seems to be a lot of work being done at the moment by Wotte and the SFA to include these 'eligible' players at youth levels. There will be a difference of opinion as always but aslong as they are choosing Scotland at age 15/16/17 then surely it is a good thing we are going to these lengths to increase our player pool.

Noticed two young Newcastle players in the Under 16's squad for the Aegean Cup also, one of them; MacKenzie Heaney was a standout in the victory shield matches this year at just 14 - Too young to gauge future abilities on in reality but promising nonetheless.
